US Super Scorpio almost there too

UPDATE (0015 GMT):

00:15 - British underwater vehicles begins cutting off cables -press service

Things are progressing well. Of course, this is when things usually fall apart. I have tried not to be a doomsayer yet, but things were fairly steady-state up until now. Now they are pulling on the sub with cables, cutting around it with ROVs, and probably prepping divers to get the crew out. Things could get ugly. Thankfully, the Russians and Brits and Americans have done this before (Sorbet Royal [sp?]) as Bubblehead has noted before.

Also, expanding on the post before, the crew is ready to evacuate. (Myself, I would have been ready, oh, 36 hours ago or so...)

Interfax: (My first and last source for this at the moment)

23:58 - U.S. crews may begin work on rescue site in five hours

Of course, by that time the job may be practically complete, judging by the previous one-liners...

I think that if the Brits have got the job done by the time the Americans show up, no one will be happier than the Americans.

The goal here isn't to be heroes, the goal here is to rescue those men, the sooner the better.

Mos News... The Brits have completed cutting all of the cable!

British Super Scorpio submersible has succesfully accomplished its mission, cutting all cables and hoses that prevented the trapped Russian mini-sub from resurfacing, Russian Naval authorities told RIA Novosti around 4AM MSK (01:00GMT) on Sunday. The AS-28 mini-sub emersion is expected any minute now. Both the mini-sub’s crew of seven, and all ships at the rescue scene were given orders to prepare for emergency surfacing of AS-28 at the Berezovaya Bay off Kamchatka shore, where it lay trapped on the sea floor since Thursday morning.

I just heard that there are 2 US navy divers and a doctor working with the British Scorpio group. I am wondering if this is normal procedure?
