Stupid Nuke Tricks

A recent post by Bubblehead sent me into reverie land about all the stupid things nukes do to pass the weary hours in the engine room.  So, I thought I’d put up some of my favorites, and see if anyone had others they would care to share.  All hearsay, of course, as no one here would actually ever disturb plant operations.

My various ramblings are posted on The Discomfort of Thought, so as not to overrun the blog.

Hi there, I followed the link here from Bo's place (bothenook.blogspot). I might be afraid that I'm the only cook on this site! MS3(SS) Jason Kowing. I was stationed aboard USS Los Angeles from '92-'95.
All I know is that I could have used a few hours to while away, but it was busy as hell in the galley practically all the time. And the crew really loved us (not) when it was time for inventory or loading the refers from topside. What a pain in the butt. Love this site, gentlemen.

Ahhh, you missed out MS3. Now they hire contractors to do stores loadouts. No more bitter crews trying not to drop the ice cream on each other...

Dammit. And I so loved tossing frozen meat and boxes of milk into the refer after they've been shoved down through the hatch. I hear they call the cooks something different now also. It was Mess Specialists, now it's Food- something or other. Who knows? Doesn't matter so much.
