Sub Battery changes

Changes upcoming for US sub batteries.  However, from the gouge I heard, we are changing battery types not only because of the stated benefits, but also because GNB had said it was getting out of the business, not the other way around.  Either way, at least we are actually modernizing.

I was at the MARF prototype when we got the VRLA battery. After our student-abused ASB-49A, it was an electrician's dream. Virtually maintenance free. Just a little procedure to bring voltage back up, and a modern BMS to help you with it. We were told they were going into the Virginia's, but I don't have any first hand evidence of it.

Post Script: I really enjoy the blog, keep up the good work.

:) E-Div finally catches a break. They need it..ASB's are maintenance nightmares (and they are supposedly better than the older TLX's and the like).

I was a student at MARF when they installed the VRLA. I had no idea how wonderful it was til I got to the fleet and had to deal with ASB bullshit.
