Hard to Find True Sub Ops Stories Like This One

Do yourself a favor and read Midnight Cowboy's account by Admiral Larson of one mission the Sculpin completed during a conflict called Nam. http://midwatchcowboy.blogspot.com/2008/01/sculpins-lost-mission.html
Submarines are always silent and strange.

It's good to see a Sculpin story that has been ok'd to talk about. I am a plank owner and can testify that her earliest activities also included pushing the envelope, proving the adequacy of her design and the competentcy of her crew.

I'm convinced that the enduring spirit of any Naval vessel is birthed by its initial leadership. I fondly recall the gleam in the eyes of our CO, Cleo Mitchell, when he smiled and announced that we had been challenged to a race back to Pearl Harbor by a fast fossil fueled USN "skimmer" that we had been operating with.

Thanks to Vigilis for finding this article and posting it here.
