Some Guys On The 772 Are Unhappy

Remember the old adage "A bitching Sailor is a happy Sailor"? If that's true, the guys at this site must be the happiest guys in the Force. (Some of the stuff there is a little bit clever, actually.) One of the links from this site is to "SNOB's Corner". For those who don't remember, "SNOB" stands for "Senior Shortest Nuke On Board" and is the title given to the Nuke who's been on board the longest. Since most guys will tranfer before EAOS if they're going to stay in, that title is normally held by a nuke who re-enlisted in prototype and is getting out after his first boat tour; therefore, he's normally unhappy.) who has the least time remaining until EAOS.

Edited 2038 31 Aug to correct a serious brain fart...

I always thought it was "Shortest Nuke On Board" (nearest to EAOS) :)

On Tucson, it was the SNOT ("Shortest Nuke On Tucson")

You're both right... it's "shortest"...

:) SNOB passdowns were a legend on my last boat. Drunken festivities, where only the non-reenlistees (or those personally approved in writing by the SNOB...said writing consisting of a chit on a chemwipe) were invited.

Our COB hated the SNOB buckle, too, but the EDMC stood up for it (oddly enough)...guess he figured it made at least one nuke happy...

Think you can get your EDMC to come to 772? Or any chief who has a clue? That would be nice.

He has moved on from what I hear (I'm not on that boat anymore, I'm enroute to the Olympia). He was a good guy, though...zany has hell, hardcore avid biker (and bigtime Lance Armstrong fan), was one of the biggest practical jokers on the boat. Made life in an otherwise sh*tty situation much better.

He had a *LOT* of sea time, though...was way overdue for shore. He came to us from the City of Corpus Christi, and went there from the Parche (I'm sure you know how much underway time they get...we did 88 days at the beginning of the Iraq war, and the EDMC and Leading MS, both Parche vets, had each done underways *DOUBLE* in length...and more).

Look on the bright side...EDMC is a set length tour, just like any other. He's not permanent...
