Dunno the American guy, but was the name "Nautilus"? Maybe not. I heard that particular ship could go 20,000 leagues under the sea ... but then what is a league? If a league is 0.00125 feet, then I think that I have the correct name of the ship.
Robert Fulton and the sub was dubbed that Nautilus, IIRC.
