nicknames

i've been in a seastory mood. and of course, most seastories are repeated ad nausem. but they keep getting told, just in case someone new hasn't heard your favorites.
so here's another... how did you come by your nickname?

"Pud"...that was not at all what I was expecting :)

I had a couple..."Schu" was a shortened version of my last name. "Head"...well, I've been told I've got a big noggin', and if you remember the movie "So I Married An Axe Murderer" you'll recognize "Heeed! Pants! NOW!" from Michael Myers.

On this boat, because of ongoing dental work for replacement of my two front teeth (lost courtesy of a drunk driver), I have a temporary partial (yes, dentures). Resultant nickname (which has found it's way onto my rack, my desk drawer in our barge office, the inside of my hardhat, and on at least one copy of the EDPO watchbill)..."Gums".

Go on...laugh...f*&kin' submariners!

:)

yeah, pud isn't what you initially think. although by the time we shortened puddles to pud, the name pud was interchangable with the shortened version of pudenda. both were appropriate, and used with varying inflection depending on which version applied.

The closest I ever got to a nickname was "sh*tstain". I didn't bother asking. :) But, that was ok with me, the single best nickname on our boat was a fella we called "Nick the wad". 'Cuz he was. :)
