In my experience the Navy's physical fitness program is all about money. Even if it means shitcanning they're brightest minds and hardest workers. Case in point we had an RO who was morbidly obese, but knew more about the reactor operations, theory, and equipment than the engineer. They shitcanned him. Why? Because they don't want to pay out the money years down the line when the sailor is retired, for diabetes, hypertension, and other diseases.
No, you just wind up like me --- rated 80% by the VA blown disks in the neck from swimming injuries that went misdiagnosed for 12 years, and ending up having to have three surgeries... or wind up like Christopher Reeves. My blood work is excellent. The rest of me is like an 80 y/o man. Thanks.
The Navy physical fitness program's only goal is to make sailors that look good for photo ops. Performance is secondary.
